"Leaves and Stars" and "Wave and Foam" are three-dimensional, double-sided flexible sculptures with two different three-dimensional tiling patterns on opposite sides. I am using the least of resources to summon up complex forms and patterns. A black and white printed strip of paper is hand-folded into a triangular dipyramid to create a module. Due to the printed black line along a white line, this module, once folded, forms a motif on its surfaces. Sewing together hundreds of these modules in different orientations, I create flexible structures with double sided three-dimensional tiling patterns. The works can be displayed in multiple states as their structure is flexible. The remaining threads are not trimmed as they are part of the process |
